Scott Nielson

Scott Nielson grew up in Clinton, Utah, and moved to Hurricane as a boy. After serving a Spanish-speaking mission in Arcadia, California, he came home in 1997. Soon after, he talked his dad into a Greyhound bus trip to Riverside, California, and bought two used cars to resell, with a $6,500 loan his grandfather co-signed.

In October 2001 Scott and his brother Mike founded Hurricane Valley Auto Mall on a leased acre in Hurricane. The lot later moved to a former pistachio farm on State Street, and by the mid-2000s the business had turned to RVs as Nielson RV. Along the way Scott finished an accounting degree at Southern Utah University.

In 2017 Nielson RV opened a 22,000-square-foot store with 12 service bays in St. George and launched its RV Warranty Forever program. In 2021 Scott sold Nielson RV to Camping World.

Today Scott runs Glampers RV in Hurricane, Jellystone Park^™ Zion next to Sand Hollow State Park (as a franchisee), My Simple Living, and Nielson Development. He and his wife Kristin have seven children, and family camping is still part of life.
